FINAL PROJECT
Terms: Executive Description
Middletown Hospital is a mid-sized community hospital located in the Mid-Western
region of the United States. The hospital has a current focus of obtaining an updated solution that
will replace their current software package which is being used for the purpose of payroll. They
are looking for a software that is designed with a modern approach that operates efficiently while
allowing the user to create a schedule for 500 staff members. The new system will be required to
communicate with the current software that is being used by the hospitals human resources
department ensuring that all payroll hours, requests for time off along with any related employee
benefits will be accurately tracked. This software will need to be designed/constructed from
scratch due to specific requirements and needs that are currently not available from other
distributers. This software must be delivered and implemented within the set deadline of 3
months.
Middletown Hospital has requested that the manager of the IT department, Oscar, be the
point person for the task of finding a suitable vendor that can provide the finished software and
implement the software once it has been created. Oscar has not had the opportunity for vetting a
vendor before therefore he does not have the familiarity with the legal implications that are
included within a partnership contract with the vendor. It would be in Oscar's best interest to
work closely with the hospital's legal team to ensure that he has thoroughly vetted the vendor
due to the short time that they have been operational. Oscar will need to draft a list for the vendor
detailing the specific requirements that are needed by the hospital, the terms of the agreement,
the warranty requirements as well as the confidentiality agreements that are required under the
HIPPA laws. This information will be highly valued by the hospital and vendor to ensure that
there are clearly defined expectations set pertaining to all parties involved.

Terms: Personnel and Staffing Concerns
Oscar has chosen Medsure as the new vendor for the software project. Medsure is a
relatively new company located in Delaware and has stated that they specialize in software
systems that are specific to the healthcare industry. Medsure has informed Oscar that they
currently have an internal team of support staff as well as a software designer that works
remotely from Sweden with an additional external subcontractor being used. Oscar has been
provided with a contract to be approved and signed by him within 4 days to ultimately meet the
deadline set by the hospital.
As a precaution, Middletown Hospital will need to verify the background of the support
personnel on the team due to the sensitive personally identifiable information that will be
provided to them by the hospital. Oscar should make a reasonable request that all personnel
working on the project be skilled due to the time constraints associated with
