Old Spice's relaunch of its brand in a 2010 campaign starring Isaiah Mustafa. It also had a huge social media and internet component that engaged consumers to interact with the "Old Spice man" through contests, blogs, and messaging. Sales rose 55%. This is one example of how a brand makeover can be successful. Your task is to find a campaign that followed a similar path. What steps do you think were most effective in reaching the target audience? How did the company integrate these strategies into marketing campaigns to create a cohesive marketing strategy? 5-1 Discussion: Interrogation of Social Media and Success As someone who works in a game store, this is a brand that I think about often. From where they started to where they are now, Nintendo is brand that works effectively to please their target audience and their sales. Nintendo is large brand that has made a comeback since their retro systems and games that allows people to engage and interact. This is an old company that has had a lot of hit and misses on social media and marketing. After failed creations and experiments with toys and others, their first huge hit is when they released in 2000 another hand held system and it was a big beginning for the company. The DS could play old game boy games and new ones. This opened up a door for Nintendo to keep developing new hand held systems. From the DS, DS Lite, DSI, 3DS, 3DSXL, the New 3DSXL, the 2DS, and course the newest hand held, the Nintendo Switch. "After the company's big reveal of the console in October, the company saw an unexpected dip of 7% in its stock value, but the company doubled down on its plans and has been pushing to capture new gamers as customers in the face of stiff competition for attention from smartphones." "If the Switch is to succeed and grow sustainably, Nintendo will need to prioritize the demands of third-party developers and studios so console sales will experience organic, low-cost growth." Nintendo has successfully made thei hand held consoles and marketing strategy by listening to their target audience and their gamer demands. Nintendo has brought back old favorites, and created new.
