1-1 Discussion: Introduction
Hello everyone! My name is Shelayah Damarie Robinson, you can call me Shey if you'd like! I'm 20 years old from Indiana. This is my third year at SNHU, and have so far loved it. There have been a few humps I've had to overcome, but overall, I've enjoyed it. I'm currently majoring in computer science, and once I graduate, I hope to find a job revolving around mobile development. I've always been interested in app development for a while. My parents have definitely helped influenced to pursue my degree. I know that may sound cliche, but it's so true. When I was younger, my dad was web developer and my mom used to be a web designer, so I've had a lot of influence on both sides of the spectrum. I enjoy doing drawing digitally, just as much as I enjoy programming different ideas when I get a spark. I think my comfort level with discrete mathematics is probably very basic, I'm not really sure what this class has to offer. I've tried to get an idea of what discrete mathematics was about prior to taking this class, but I couldn't really understand. But if discrete mathematics is mostly numbers and not a bunch of graphs and word problems, then I think I should be fine. My confidence in math classes when it's dealing with numbers, since it's a little easier for my brain to understand. When graphs and word problems are involved, I tend to get a bit lost. And I learned this from the Calculus class I took last semester. I think there's a lot I could improve, maybe looking into the topics and not getting flustered. I think my main question I have from looking at the module for this week, is utilizing the overleaf program, how am I supposed to input the different discrete mathematical symbols. I think there are a lot of differences between mathematical logic and everyday logic. One that stands out to me is the scenarios. An everyday scenario would comprise of real-life events, which would require to use our logic in what we think is best. However, mathematical logic is based off of a combination of theories that may be true in this case, or false in another. I think the study of the mathematical logic can probably help me in my everyday life, specifically in programming, because I can essentially think logically when finding solutions to problems. I'm a little nervous studying Discrete Mathematics, as it's something entirely new to me. But I'm ready to conquer this semester. Hope everyone has a great semester
