Analyzing Design Elements in Event Posters

The poster utilizes the photo plainly. At the beginning of this course, I thought this poster was created well. After gaining knowledge on graphic design elements, the image seems as if it was just placed at the bottom of the poster for convenience. Also, this poster is intended to invite people to a car wash fundraiser. This poster is not inviting or encouraging to participate, it seems plain and boring to me. The car image could have been more modern so that it could have a relation to the viewer. Lastly the image of the car could have been more creatively implemented in the design which could have put emphasis on the car wash event. The design elements on this poster are very well portrayed. The line elements of this design are done in variation. There are large lines to show emphasis on the main elements while there are small lines adding or giving details about the main elements. Although, there are not any medium lines to give more emphasis to the main and small elements. This would also give a smoother transition of the variation in line on this poster. Secondly, the space relation of the elements is done well, there is no bunched up or hard to read elements. There is also no space between the titles for more design flare, which plays with the space given. Thirdly, the color of this poster is black, grey, and white. This color scheme has contrast, but the purpose of the poster is a car wash event. For the viewers to get the feelings that the poster was supposed to convey, colors would do it justice. Fourthly, the typography of this poster is San serif and bubbly letters. There are contrasts between those typographies that fit well with the concept of the poster, especially the bubbly letter which can demonstrate water bubbles, or even soap. There is slight variation in boldness, and I think it should be implemented more. It can make other elements pop when needed. For the design principles, the emphasis is used with bigger to smaller letters, not color or the input of textures. The balance is evenly balanced, the big text "car wash" and the smaller details are evenly weighed with the "$5" and the car image. The alignment of this poster is off, either this is used to give the poster mor dynamics or an error input. The car is slightly cut out of the page, the smaller details are not aligned, and the text "car wash" is cut off as well. Next, there is contrast between sizes and values but not hues. The hierarchy in this poster is properly displayed. The title is at the top followed by the call of action is bigger and bolder, anything lower than that is smaller to compliment or add on to the title and call of action. The scale of this design is something I cannot understand. Though from observing the poster, it looks correct because nothing is
