Mastering Adobe Design Tools

GRA-200 Module 5 Learning Objectives By the end of this module, you will meet these learning objectives: · Compare the tools available in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign · Identify which software tools are appropriate for a given graphic design task · Use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign to complete basic graphic design tasks Module Overview As you've learned, graphic designers often use a combination of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign to complete a single artifact. Knowing which software and which tools within the software are best suited to specific design tasks is an important skill. You started your exploration of Adobe Illustrator tools in Module Two. During this module, you will learn more about basic Illustrator tools. The information provided in this module will help you learn to efficiently navigate the software and to effectively complete design tasks. This module also provides you with the opportunity to create additional artifacts, which is important practice to improve your skills. Module at a Glance This is the recommended plan for completing the reading assignments and activities within the module. Additional information can be found in the module Resources section and on the module table of contents page. 1. Read the assigned textbook reading and review the resources in the Resources section. 2. Complete and submit the practice activity. Resources: Completing Design Tasks Introduction Explore these resources, which provide information about and practice with basic Illustrator tools. Required Resources Textbook: Graphic Design: Learn It Do It opens in new window, Chapter 12, beginning of chapter through "Exercise 12. : Creating a Poster" section Chapter 12 of the textbook, available from the Shapiro Library, provides a detailed exploration of Adobe Illustrator, including some of the primary Illustrator tools you will frequently use as a graphic designer. The information provided in this chapter will help you complete the remainder of the project. As you read, have the Illustrator application open in front of you and follow the specific directions to practice navigating the interface and utilizing the tools.
