1. How is a CIS a better solution to collecting and storing data?
Clinical Information Systems (CIS) are computer based systems that are designed for
collecting, storing, manipulating, and making available clinical information important to the
healthcare delivery process (Donte, 2018). CIS are a better solution for collecting and storing
data for numerous reasons. For instance, it provides early access to patient data. Clinical
Information Systems can provide convenient access to medical records at all points of care. This
is exceptionally beneficial at ambulatory points which enhances continuity of care (Donte, 2018)
Without CIS, clinicians would have to collect accurate patient data and record them on paper
charts. This helps reduce time spent on paper charts, and helps the physicians spend more time
with actual patient care. It helps provide better accuracy and gets patient x-rays and lab results in
real time (Intensive Care, 2016).
2. Explain at least one way CIS is adaptable and accessible compared to a paper system.
Clinical Information Systems have had a huge impact of patient care throughout
healthcare systems. One way these systems are adaptable and accessible compared to paper
systems is that once information is uploaded it can be reviewed right then and there. Paper
systems unfortunately take more time to be reviewed. Paper systems have to be signed off by the
provider and then sent through the mail or faxed. This causes extra unnecessary time and can
delay patient care if the documents aren't sent out quick enough to be received. Another reason
CIS is more adaptable and accessible is the fact that paper records have to be written on opposed
to being typed in a CIS system. This reduces errors for having to infer what is written on the
paper record and reduces time spent trying to reach another persons handwriting
3. What is the financial impact on an organization?

The financial impact that CIS has on organizations is very positive. Implementing new
electronic systems makes for a better organization for health systems. In other words, the better
systems an organization has the more value there is to the health system. There is competition
amongst health systems so each individual organization wants to be the best of the best with the
best technology and electronic medical records
