3-2 Project Preparation: Quick Check
1. Selection of Healthcare Organization
The health care organization which I have selected is Houston Methodist Hospital. It is
imperative to note that the hospital is an academic medical center which is leading in Texas
Medical Center. It is a not-for-profit organization which offers different health and health care
services to patients across all ages (Houston Methodist Hospital, 2022). Notably, it is popularly
known for management of organ failure and transplant center. The organization has been
effective in its operations and serves increased number of patients compared to other health care
organizations in Texas every day. In some cases, the organization offers different services to the
elderly for free. It is worth noting that the hospital has eight branches and more than 25,543
employees (Houston Methodist Hospital, 2022). The hospital also conducts research on different
health problems and ensures that patient safety and outcomes are improved in the health care
system. It has employed the use of health care technology which has ensured that it effectively
and easily shares information within and outside.
2. Selection of Public-Facing Data
In this case, I will utilize hypertension data. Hypertension has been one of the main
health concerns which needs to be addressed immediately. Notably, as explained by Krist et al.
(2021), about half of the total population in the United States are suffering from hypertension.
Notably, Houston Methodist hospital shares data with the public and I will be able to get data on
hypertension cases in Texas through the hospital. Through conducting research, the hospital has
been able to identify different strategies and interventions which can be applied to ensure that the
issue of hypertension is solved.
3. Discussion your Selections
I have selected Houston Methodist Hospital because it has been ranked among the
leading health care organization across the world. Secondly, the hospital has implemented
technology which ensures that it gathers and stores reliable information and data which can be
used for research (Houston Methodist Hospital, 2022). I have also selected hypertension data as
the public facing data because I can access the data and use it in my project. Addressing the issue
of hypertension will play a critical role in ensuring that people lead healthier lives
