Healthcare Administration Capstone Project

Remember that your project goals should be specific and measurable Weak goal: Increase number of patients who use urgent care. Strong goal: Increase daily volume of urgent care use by 5% each month or 50% over one year. It can be helpful to review the needs of each stakeholder to ensure your project goals are addressing their needs. Provide at least three goals of your strategic plan. What population is affected? Why? How will you measure the success of your goals? In response to your peers, review their initial posts. Are their goals measurable? Explain. Hi class, The strategic plan for MemorialCare's behavioral health is to initiate a pediatric behavioral health program that offers 24/7 access to mental health counselors for urgent matters, access to counselors that specialize in pediatric mental health, and online educational material with coping mechanisms and information for pediatric patients on when to seek mental health care. The goals are: To increase pediatric use of telehealth and in-person behavioral counseling appointments by 60% within a calendar year To reduce pediatric hospitalization for behavioral health by 30% within a calendar year Promote early intervention and detection of serious mental health disorders Improve access to behavioral health care The populations that will be affected are the pediatric populations in the service areas of MemorialCare throughout Orange County and Los Angeles County, that had faced barriers when attempting to access behavioral health services previously or were unaware of early detection and intervention of mental health conditions. In Long Beach, California, children, teenagers, and young adults are more likely to be hospitalized for mental health conditions when compared to (Department of Health and Human Services, 2013). There will be a reduction in mental health condition related hospitalizations due to improved access to care, early detection, and increased treatments and interventions. The success of the goals will be measured by monitoring the uptake of pediatric behavioral counseling appointments over the initial year of opening and tracking mental health related hospitalization rates amongst children, teenagers, and young adults. Detection and intervention timelines will be monitored, measured, and compared to previous data to identify if there is a significant different in detection timeframes with the pediatric behavioral health program. And lastly, patient satisfaction surveys will be conducted to determine if there are improvements in access to behavioral health care and seeking ways to make further improvements should any barriers still prevent patients from seeking care.
