5-2 Milestone
Does living an active life style with a balanced diet as an adult ensure that you will main.-
tain a healthy weight? This question is something that is important and I decided to chose this
study question for my topic because I feel that this is a very large problem in our country. The
population to be studied will be adults of both genders. I felt that picking adults is a good choice
Adults live a very active lifestyle, whether they are running around with children or they are
working and managing other life things, they are typically very busy people. Being busy can of-
ten lead to unhealthy eating habits and also can leave to unhealthy exercise habits as well be-
cause by the time the day is done, you are worn out and your motivation is gone. Fast and on the
go foods are much easier than preparing something healthy and nutritious after a long day so this
can drive a person to make a bad food choice.
If you need to lose, maintain or even gain weight, the key to all of this is watching your
calories. Calories that are not burned off turn into fat and stored in the body. Caloric balance is
like a scale. To remain in balance and maintain your body weight, the calories consumed must be
balanced by the calories used in normal body functions, daily activities, and exercise.
(https://www.cdc.gov/healthyweight/calories/index.html) It is important that people understand
that calories need to be used so they do not store and cause excess fat in the body. To maintain a
healthy weight, you must not only keep track of your calories, but also finding an exercise rou-
tine that works for your body as well.
Living an active lifestyle will help you maintain a health weight when paired with a bal-
anced diet. Depending on your age and activity level, a balanced diet will consist of a certain
caloric allowance that will make your consume to burn ratio. My variables will be adults and ac-
tive lifestyles paired with a healthy diet. My audience that I chose to use would be adult men and
adult women. As people age, they find that it can be harder to lose weight no matter what they
do, so I think this topic/question will be interesting.
Adults of both genders that eat a balanced diet and have an active lifestyle life a much
more healthy life than those who do not. Unhealthy diet habits start early on in life so children
who eat unhealthy and do not exercise normally grow up to be unhealthy adults in their later life
as well. If a child sees their parent being unhealthy, they most likely will make unhealthy choices
too. A healthy diet helps protect against malnutrition in all its forms, as well as noncommunica-
ble diseases (NCDs), including diabetes, heart disease, stroke and cancer.
