4-2 Final Project Milestone 2: EHR Selection Final Project- Milestone Two EHR- Selection By: Molanda Manassa Professor: Joyce Shannon 11/19/2023 4-2 Final Project Milestone 2: EHR Selection As Alpha Healthcare moves from using paper records and a stand-alone scheduling system to a more sophisticated, integrated system, this milestone will provide you recommendations for the EHR that they should choose. The platform's functionality, compliance with CMS requirements, general design, and assurance that it is patient-centered technology will all be priorities. EHR Selection The 'Cadillac' of EHRs is now Epic. The Epic Care Ambulatory EMR software is the suggested option for Alpha Health's EHR. Hospitals, clinics, medical centers, and solo practicing physicians can all use this comprehensive EHR solution. Epic Care is a very flexible and easy-to- use system that can be used by solo practitioners or large institutions alike. EHR Selection: CMS Regulation Healthcare organizations and individual providers can use the list of Certified Health IT Products provided by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) to find the electronic health record (EHR) that best meets their needs and specifications. Epic satisfies CMS criteria because it has several ONC certifications. Epic uses appropriate security features and procedures for privacy, audits, and data encryption. They can submit data to CMS directly. They also adhere to HIPPA rules and recommendations. EHR Selection: Type of EHR The integrated functionality Alpha Health is seeking will be available through Epic Care Ambulatory EHR. They will also be able to utilize the tools for electronic prescribing, electronic 4-2 Final Project Milestone 2: EHR Selection health record transmission and access, electronic health record retrieval, computerized provider order entry (CPOE), clinical decision support (CDS), transitions of care (TOC), electronic referrals, and a host of other effective workflow enhancements. EHR Selection: Patient- Centered Technology Across several service lines and geographical areas, Alpha Health is a major organization. They must have interoperability in every location and across all their service lines. Using numerous devices and any available internet connection, Epic is a cloud-based platform that can be accessed from anywhere. To guarantee that the patient care team always has access to all patient information, Epic also may send and receive data to other EHR platforms. An organization's internal efficiency, patient and physician satisfaction, and income can all be enhanced by integrating a system like Epic. MyChart, the Epic interface, allows patients to see and manage their health record, analyze test results, ask for prescription refills, and communicate with their care team. EHR Selection: Peripherals It is crucial to ensure that the interface design chosen for Alpha Health maximizes the functionality of the EHR platform while also improving the system's usability. Given that Epic Care is an EHR system housed in the cloud, a graphical user interface (GUI) is advised. With interactive visual elements like symbols and pointers, this kind of interface will give users simple access to information and customization capabilities, improving workflow, communication, and navigation inside the system and boosting overall productivity.
