EHR RECOMMENDATIONS Final Project Submission: EHR Recommendations Ejiogu 2 In this project, as a Health Information Management (HIM) Professional working for a fictional Healthcare Organization (HCO) - Alpha, I am entrusted with recommending a new Electronic Health Record System. To do this, first there must be a review of important details of the organization, to facilitate informed recommendations to which EHR should be selected, how it should be implemented, and the best testing and training procedures. Analysis: Organizational Overview: Organization HCO - Alpha, is a 150-bed hospital, with 5 beds designated for intensive care. It also has a level III trauma center (Emergency department), 5 designated care areas, and 13 auxiliary service lines (clinics). Giving this organization compositions, there is need to ensure selection of a compatible EHR with robust, secured, and seamless interoperability of health information across all departments, between the hospital and the auxiliary clinics (services) upon implementation. In a nutshell, this new System will contain applications that can run both administrative and clinical aspects of the organization - Alpha. Analysis: Organizational Overview: Services Alpha has designated care areas that include Outpatient surgery, Orthopedic surgery, Women's health, Pediatrics, and Cardiology. Its auxiliary clinical services consist of 5 family practices, 2 internal medicines, 1 cardiology, 1 neurology, 1 orthopedic and sports medicine, 1 eye care, 1 women's health, and 1 pediatric. Additionally, HCO - Alpha provides outpatient rehabilitation services and a community wellness program. Given these services, the new EHR System is expected to be user friendly, support different clinical workflows, data formats, interoperability; and compliant with security/privacy regulations. Ejiogu 3 EHR RECOMMENDATIONS In consideration of HCO - Alpha's wide range of services, the following stakeholders should be considered in making up the team of EHR selection: · Project Manager is charged with the task of heading the EHR selection team (Beeson. 2021). · Health Information Managers who serve as consultants and source information for compliance, security, privacy, legal, and other concerns (Sayles et al., 2021. P.67, 261). · C-level Sponsor who represents the senior management/steering committee. Most frequently led by the Chief Information Officer (CIO) (Beeson. 2021). · Physician Advocate to represent the physicians during requirements and shortlisting. · Nurse Advocate to represent nurses during the requirements and shortlisting. · Encoder and Billing Advocate represent the billing department as they are responsible for coding and submitting claims for payment (Sayles et al., 2021. P.67, 261). · Administrative Advocate to represent the practice management team during the selection and implementation process (Beeson. 2021). · Meaningful-Use Manager to ensure successful demonstration of meaningful use of certified EHR technology (CEHRT) functionality and interoperability to be certified by the ONC or its Designee (Sayles et al., 2021. P.67, 261). · Marketing Manager useful for input on communication and user adoption of the EHR system. (Beeson. 2021). · Patient Advocate to ensure that the
