The electronic health record (EHR) is very important when it comes to treating patients.
conducting research, and billing purposes. There are lots of applications that are implemented
into the EHR that aid in keeping the patient's records organized and secure. The HIPAA laws
stipulate who is authorized to have these records, what these records can be used for, and how to
keep these records private and secure.
Analysis: Organizational Overview: Organization
Alpha is a hospital with many services that are offered. Alpha wants to convert their
outdated combination of paper documents and electronic scheduling system to a more modern
and updated EHR system to accommodate its many services. A new and more modern EHR
system will make things easier to find, provide the best possible quality patient care, as well as
error free data records. The new system will also allow multiple providers to view patient data
from various locations at the same time (SNHU HIM 220 Milestone One Guidelines and
Rubric).

Alpha is a 150-bed hospital, with five designated intensive care beds. The emergency
department is a Level III trauma center. Designated care areas include:
Outpatient services.
Orthopedic surgery.
Women's health.
Pediatrics.
Cardiology.
Auxiliary services at Alpha include:
5 family practice clinics
2 internal medicine clinics.
1 cardiology clinic.
1 neurology clinic.
1 orthopedic and sports medicine clinic.
1 eye care clinic.
1 women's health clinic.
1 pediatric clinic.
Alpha also provides outpatient rehabilitation services and a community wellness

Stakeholders would include:
The chief executive officer (CEO) provides the administration support from the
Board of Directors for this project and without the support of the CEO, no new
EHR could be implemented.
The chief financial officer (CFO) oversees the budget required for the purchase of
the new EHR system.
The chief information officer (CIO) is responsible for the managements.
implementation, and usability of information and computer information
technology.
Project manager helps put the plan in place.
Project team members work with the project manager on smaller tasks to come
together to finish the project.
Billing individual should be a part of the committee to help determine
