Though there should be a roadmap/checklist to outline the steps for a successful deployment. Implementation tasks would need to be defined, along with who will be executing the tasks. This step should also include accounting for the approved schedule and budget that have been approved for this rollout. Recruitment of an implementation committee is dependent on practice scope, budget, etc., but can include an EHR consultant. Migration of patient data is the basis for a solid EHR rollout. To complete a solid migration there are several stages that need to be included Conversion of paper records to electronic records Data cleansing and verification : EHR database setup Mapping legacy data to new database fields Data transfers to the new system : Testing and verification of legacy data Testing and verification of new data inputs Following this specific process reduces the chances of data failures and errors in patient records. Designing data entry functions that are consistent and provide contrast between screen elements that allows any user to easily scan the page and note the important items for information input, grouping of related fields, and creating the design that works the same way every single time. The point of the EHR is to create a consistent system that doesn't allow for deviation, which slows down processes and efficiency. Aesthetics are also a consideration. Disorganized interfaces have users spending unnecessarily large amounts of time on simple tasks. To cut down on irritation and user fatigue the aim would be to provider contrast in screen elements that would Milestone Three Implementation allow the user to easily scan and recognize all important items to their specific function. Groupings of related fields adds logical structure and further supports the creation of contrasting elements in the work area. By ensuring that the screen elements are aligned and consistent, creating order on sometimes lengthy entry pages, it is possible to create a much more functional workspace for the user. All components of the EHR need to undergo comprehensive testing. This will require a high level of participation by all stakeholders for this to be successful. A well vetted system that is geared to meet the needs of all of its users is paramount. You don't want a system to fail in any way at go-live. There will be some system issues and even user error, but this should always be the exception and not the rule. To help ensure the success of a rollout there should be function and workflow testing at all points in the setup of the EHR. For each build, there should be a build audit conducted, followed by interface tests. Without conducting this process, undo burden is placed on the integration test to uncover issues in the setup. This helps insure that not only the build is solid, b
