Case Study Analysis: Case Study of Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant and Bojangles Darius Joell Southern New Hampshire University OL 500: Human Behavior in Organizations Professor Liz August 15,2021 2 Workplace: Organizational Issues Milestone Three Analysis The company I'm conducting this workplace analysis on is the Bojangles that I first worked at in Georgia. Some of the organizational issues that I noticed right away are that there was low employee morale, distrust amongst the staff, low productivity, and high employee turnover. I worked at this location for an entire summer and got to see the ins and outs of its operations. Workplace: Root Causes Milestone Three Analysis The root cause of employee distrust mainly had to deal with the cashiers at this particular location. There were several occasions where the cash registers would not contain the amount of cash that should have been in there at the end of that particular shift. There would be cash missing, which is obviously an issue for the company. A lot of the low employee morale stemmed from the fact that employees were constantly being accused of stealing from the cash registers. Fast food, also just isn't a particularly attractive job to most people. According to Indeed, high turnover is one of the most common organizational issues (Indeed Editorial Team. 2021b, April 22). Some causes are discontent with management and their leadership, were dissatisfied with their work and didn't find it fulfilling There was low productivity at this location because management would mostly hire young, inexperienced workers who were more preoccupied with socializing and using phones than they were with cleaning, servicing customers, and other job duties. In addition to all of these other grievances, one manager in particular had especially erratic behavior and was suspected to have been an alcoholic. Workplace: Solutions Milestone Three Analysis Work Human says that ways to fix high employee turnover is to make sure you're hiring the right people and to fire the ones that don't fit (Jacobsen, D. 2018). There needs to be a diversification of the employee demographics. Staff needs to rebuild the culture of this location in order to get the best results from its employees. They can reward employees for good work, as the only reward system at the location prior to this analysis was of punishment for consequences. There was never a reward for good work. Establishing a reward system will help employees feel better about the work that they do. Workplace: Strategic Actions Milestone Three Analysis One of the strategic actions the company could take to correct the issues of the company include the following. The alcoholic manager referred to earlier in this study could be fired if employee. and subsequently replaced with a district manager who had a much more employee-friendly temperament. Once said employee is fired, the district manager could also proceed to let go of some of the teenagers employed there and replaced them with retired workers and college student with goals of saving money for their college needs.
