OL 500 Discussion 5-1
A social system consists of a complex set of human relations that are interacting in many ways.
According to Newstrom (2015), two points stand out in these complex environments: "all parts
of the system are mutually interdependent" and "any social system engages with its
environments" (Newstrom, 2015, pg. 95). These environments consist of unique social cultures,
which are the human-created beliefs, customs, and practices within an organization. These
unique systems are measured harmonically through social equilibrium. This system's movement
is substantial, depending on the disruption that kilter the stability
What if the code of conduct is such that regular types of interaction are strictly prohibited? When
I was volunteer guardian ad litem, we had 23 strict codes of conduct that must be adhered to at
all times.
Many people join Facebook and friends with many different people and the organization I
volunteered with for 3 / years had very strict codes of conduct not only for the type of work that
was done but also for perhaps, the safety of the volunteers.
The CASA Project, is committed to provide quality advocacy for the Worcester County juvenile
courts. It is essential that our staff and volunteers adhere to the highest standards of professional
conduct while providing essential advocacy for abused and neglected children. (Casa, 2020) I
will give a few examples and they might seem harsh.
Casa staff is prohibited from developing personal relationship with volunteers- on focusing on
this one for the which means no being their friends on Facebook, going out after hours and
socializing, any interaction other than those that are specifically related to the case. I had a great
professional relationship with my supervisor and our Executive Director in all the of the
personnel with the organization. The strict nature of the rules of conduct are based on the task at
hand we are working with abused and neglected children, the Department of children and family
services and a whole host of legal personnel. Strictly prohibited is from developing a personal
relationship with anyone related to the case while on it or after it. As harsh as these rules might
seem they actually are of great benefit, when some foster parents asked to be friends on
Facebook, I say it's against casa policy. We learned about work life balance and how work can
you know spillover and have personal relationships and can perhaps bring up morale and
cohesion within the company. To me work is work and home is home. The boundaries and lines
of demarcation are very apparent and they need to be. Working in corrections, working in
facilities where you may live in a small town and people run into. We have things like HIPPA for
not only the privacy of the patient and protection of staff. I guess I became the hardened to work
is work and home is home because before HIPPA I lived in a small town and people would ask
me about their family members at the
