Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant: Motivating in Good Times and Bad

Summary
In Milestone three we are going to discuss how to fix the three main
problems we found in the root cause to create an organizational improvement to fix the organizations issues by recommending strategic proactive actions.
Solutions Development
In the root cause analysis we found multiple organizational issues inside the Engstrom
Auto Plant starting with a lack in leadership and knowledge from the decision makers, a change
in economic time alongside a bonus plan that was built during a high time in the economy, and
lastly the lack in motivation and drive in the employees. These issues are all in a different area of
the company but go together with one another and if we can fix these issues with the leadership
and the Scanton Plan then the auto plant should thrive no matter the economic or choppy waters
to come.
A massive leadership and decision-making quality any manager should have is to keep up
with what is going on inside and outside the company. The leadership at the Engstrom plant
when the new plant manager took over was amazing they implemented a new goal oriented plan
that help bring the plant back from troubling waters but the issue comes in that they did not stay
on top of there surroundings. The Scanton plan did not fall apart over night over time the results
was getting more and more troubling and instead of attacking the problem as it started to grow
the leadership only took action at the very end being very reactive and not proactive causing the
issue to rise into a massive problem. One main way that should have been implemented a while
ago is to become a servant leader. The essence of servant leadership is placing the needs of
others before one's own self-interest. There needs to be a direct dialogue beyond the employee's
own submission of ideas and thoughts and set up a specified time starting with a monthly
meeting till issues are resolved to quarterly ones. Employees may find themselves in a better
situation to give their thoughts and in those meetings bring up ideas that the plant is looking to
improve or change such as new technology. Some workers may have a better understanding of
