I.
Introduction:
"Coming together is a Beginning, Staying together is progress, and working together is
success" Henry Ford
Just like any group sport requires a strong ability to plan, coordinate, and cooperate for
a player to score, any workplace needs a strong team work based on these three elements in
order to success. In the 21st century, teams and groups are both part of every organizational
structure. They are combined with technology in such a way that enables every organizational
structure to work smoothly. As a result, the ability to work in groups and teams is crucial and
important to contribute in the development and improvement of any business.
In fact, when it comes to defining the terms of teams and groups they create a sort of
controversy in the sense that some people do not differentiate between them, but rather use
them as substitutes. However, many scholars believe that there is a fundamental need to
distinguish between "teams" and "groups".
In these regards, this paper will be presenting a brief literature review of the concepts
of "teams" and "groups". Then, our research will be examining and giving the main key
differences between these two terminologies based on different theoretical approaches
including the psychological approach, socio-technical approach, and finally the behavioral
approach. Also, by presenting actual examples, this study will explain which one of these
structures is better in terms of work outcomes both at the professional and personal levels
