A group is individuals who have similar interests and experiences but different goals. There are 2 types of groups formal and informal. Formal groups are management designated and informal groups are formed naturally amongst coworkers. Groups have one leader and individual goals (Newstrom, 2015). In a team all members have the same goal and work together by using everyone's strengths. Teams have multiple leaders and one goal (Newstrom, 2015)
1. I worked in a school, each classroom was considered a team. 2. The teams consisted of one staff to each student. In my classroom we had 7 students and 7 staff
3. I worked one to one with each student on a rotating schedule. All staff members worked with each student randomly assigned throughout the week. Staff members would be hired upon the enrollment of new students and moved around in other classrooms throughout the school when students left, which rarely happened. 4. The team environment was physically bound to a classroom. Every morning a quick meeting was held to discuss the day's expectations. Some afternoons also included a meeting to discuss in depth student plans or issues. The teacher brought the meeting up but it relied on staff members who were given the chance to voice opinions and ideas of what they thought was working or what was not working in the context of student successes. The environment was somewhat uncomfortable when it was obvious that certain staff did not like how others were behaving toward each other. 5. If some staff were to slack off and not do the proper programming with the students, the kids fell behind and didn't meet their goals. Sometimes staff would reward students when they shouldn't have, didn't follow programs and allowed them to play with materials instead of working, allow students extra computer time or avoid doing work to avoid dealing with behaviors. This impacted not only the students but the staff as well because when a new staff tried to enforce proper programs or time limits it became a problem when the students didn't want to comply. 6. If staff were enforcing behavior plans and programming students were meeting their IEP goals. This was successful for the company because they were in turn receiving more students from districts that were pleased with the outcomes. Parents were also satisfied with how behaviors changed at home
