Talent Management in Organizations

6-2 Journal: Talent Management Institution: Southern New Hampshire University Course: Organizational Behavior 6-2 Journal: Talent Management After this weeks reading about talent, my perspective about individual talent are no longer the same. I have always seen myself as a charismatic woman, making a good leader. I can connect and influence people using charm, persuasiveness, and excellent communication skills. I have learned that being charismatic does not mean making a good leader. Often charismatic leaders show narcissist traits and place their interests above the interests of the organization and their followers(Chamorro-Premuzic,2014). This can result in employees being disengaged and having high turnover intentions. My Recommendations to Leadership Talent is an essential resource in today's business environment. Leaders who do not make talent management, including acquisition, growth, and retention, a strategic imperative will find their organizations competitively disadvantaged in the global business environment. Leaders must align talent management with the organization's strategic objectives and vision. Strategic talent management involves engaging employees to feel part of the organizational culture and practice it in every action they do rather than seeing it as something created for PR or the leaders. Leaders should work on influencing employee happiness in their organizations. This is to ensure that employees are not only engaged but take joy in their work. Leaders should be involved to ensure a positive employee experience in the workplace. This is because some issues in the workplace, including workplace politics, can result in employee burnout, turnover intentions, and increased stress levels. Leaders should avoid placing their interests above those of their followers in an organization. Instead, they should make their followers feel more engaged in the organization, offer them growth opportunities, and ensure that they fit in its culture. Leaders should show employees that they care for them through rewarding and recognizing them correctly. This helps in motivating, engaging, and managing employees better.
