IT 212 Milestone One My current advertising firm employer has tasked me with researching the Fayetteville, NC, office setup project. I will deliver my key considerations and recommendations for the network infrastructure setup to the team. The Fayetteville office will support 50 employees, including the Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. All worksites must have access to fiber, cable, T1 internet services, live video teleconferencing calls, and reliably send print jobs to billboard printers in Albany, New York. I would recommend using the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model approach to determine the best method to start this project. This model will guide us through the project needs to ensure the most secure, efficient, and cost-effective route is used. The OSI model contains seven layers; the application layer allows the soft to receive and send out information to display the data users' interaction section. The presentation layer ensures that data is communicated is encrypted and encoded for end-users to view without issues. The session layer developed the communication link between all end users. The transport layer breaks down the data into segments to ensure the data flow matches the connection speed and reassembles the data for the end receiver. The network layer addresses the route packets for the end-user. The data link layer breaks the packets into frames and sends them to the end-user considering network protocols such as LLC and MAC. The physical layer is accountable for the cables or wireless connection between end-users. My next recommendation would be to choose the appropriate LAN topology. There are a few topologies to choose from, but each has its advantages and disadvantages. The star topology is centrally operated using a hub. If one node were to fail, the infrastructure would continue to function. The disadvantage is that if the hub fails, the entire infrastructure will not function, but if a network administrator were to ensure the proper management of the hub, the system would

The main disadvantage of this would be the usage of the single cable to transmit data, leaving the topology vulnerable, expensive, and time-consuming to repair for larger companies. The ring topology is similar to the bus topology, except it's not multiple devices connecting to a single cable but multiple devices connecting to another device like a circle. The ring topology has similar advantages and disadvantages as the bus topology. The mesh topology connects devices similar to the ring topology, except each device has two to three connections to other devices. The advantage of mesh topology is that it's the most reliable and stable topology listed. If a node fails in this topology, the infrastructure will continue to operate as usual with no interruptions. The disadvantage of this topology would be that it's labor-intensive and would be expensive to establish due to this configuration. My recommendation would be to use the star topology.
