Designing New Office Network
To develop a new network in Fayetteville, NC, a computer network is needed to ensure
that communication and proper data flow is facilitated between the new location and the
headquarters in Albany, NY. The computer network to be established will cover 50 employees
found in the Fayetteville office. It will have more than two computers that are connected to share
resources. Networks will be joined in the office so that the IT can conduct central management
efficiently. It will allow information sharing among the employees in the organization (Xu, Qian
& Hu, 2018).
Key considerations:
The functional requirements to the business operations will include the following

Multimedia

Corporate e-mail facility
iii. Video conferencing
iv. VoIP
V.
Internet access
vi.
Secure VPN
vii.
Web servers for hosting the content on the company website.
Additional requirements:
i. Database for maintaining user data
ii. Archival and backup facilities
iii. Crash recovery
iv. Network and firewall security
v. Encryption (data loss prevention DLP)
vi. Online video surveillance
Non-function requirements for the network:
The functional hardware needed for developing a computer network includes a large-
scale networking mechanism that will ensure a massive flow of information between different
network points. The network should meet the needs of the new working location. It should be
flexible and scalable in case of any future changes.
Digital communication media is appropriate in computer networking. Regarding the OSI
stack, layer three, the network layer, will play the role of transmitting data (Sinha, Jha, Rai &
Bhushan, 2017). Additionally, there is a need for network hardware for the new location in
Fayetteville. It includes network cables, routers, repeaters, bridges, and gateways. Some factors
are considered to set up the IP range, and they are host numbers, network numbers, and address
classes. With these factors, setting the IP range for the new office is made more accessible.
Network topologies
Some of the network topologies that can be used in Fayetteville, NC, include;
a. Point-to-point topology- there is a direct connection between computers. It is
known to be the fastest, but its connection involves computers close to each other
(Bisht & Singh, 2015).
b. Bus topology- it utilizes a cable that is connected to all nodes. Its strengths
