Classical Theories
Classical theories emphasis organizational structure by analyzing aspects such as optimal
organization performance plans. From the McDaniel's Burger case study one example of
classical theories was Burger Business deciding to have five different stations when customers
are making their orders in order to avoid long customer queues. Secondly, Burger Business
getting rid of toppings that are rarely ordered is another example of classical theory. Both these
examples directly affect the structure of McDaniel's Burger.
Predict Business Outcomes
One business outcome concerns employee's satisfaction, since none of the major decision made
by Burger Business involved them, more employees who feel sidelined will leave the company
Inefficient communication between the employees and executives would drive the business
downwards therefore less and less customers will be willing to dine at McDaniel's Burger
choosing to take their orders home. Another prediction is that Burger Business will continue to
lose more customers since the executive decided to get rid of toppings that customers rarely
ordered.
Discuss Ways to Improve Communication
An array of studies identifies that effective communication is imperative in the workplace to
increase employee productivity and organizational performance (Neely, et al,2018). One way
that the executive can improve communication in McDaniel's Burger is to create a rapport
among current employees and customers since this will form the basis of good communication.
Setting up one on one meetings in addition to team building activities is a good way to ensure
proper communication between employees. Seeking regular customer feedback through surveys
and questionnaires is also a way to improve communication and receive insights from customers.
Thirdly, Burger Business employees should take time to listen to both current employee and
customer feedback.
Suggestions to Improve Customer Satisfaction and Employee Retention
The ultimate goal of any business is to achieve the highest possible level of customer
satisfaction. One way to do this in the case of McDaniel's burger would be to incorporate
customer feedback in their service and ask how they would like to be served. Through this they
would be able to make informed decisions regarding their operations. Another way to improve
customer satisfaction would be to avoid making very many changes all at once, maybe the
executives could develop a plan on how to roll out changes over a long period of time. For
employees' retention one way would be to include them in decision making or at least a
representative from them. Secondly, Burger Business executives should allow employees to
specialize and work in one station as opposed to working in many different stations.
