ABurns FAS-201-X6676 Introduction to Humanities I Southern New Hampshire University August 15, 2021 For the Final milestone, I have chosen two works of art "The Birth of Venus" and the poem "Stanze per la Giostra." "The Birth of Venus" was created around 1480 by Sandro Botticelli and is currently located in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence Italy. The poem "Stanze per la Giostra" by Angelo Polizanio was penned around 1470. "Stanze per la Giostra" is currently located at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York but is not on display at this time. Both works of arts, are from the Renaissance period. The Renaissance period was not what we call an event but more so, it was a time of cultural movement. It followed the medieval ages which was a period that lacked in progress, and society was hierarchically divided into classes and was greatly influenced by the church. Echoing the words of Polizanio's "Stanze per la Giostra"; "The Birth of Venus" gives a visual impression of the poem. It is created in Renaissance style toward the end of the 15th century. It was a landmark of XV century Italian painting. The Renaissance period helped form a contemporary American culture. "The Birth of Venus' creator Botticelli known as one of the greatest Western art painters. He used blended color along with form and perspective to introduce both religious and secular works for amazing visual poetry. Botticelli explored many themes from Roman and Greek mythology. "The Birth of Venus is a mythological character. Renaissance Humanists differed from the Medieval Humanists.
