For the two cultural works that had caught my attention was, "How Would You Finish the
Sentence "Imagine if and I chose Why Are We So Obsessed with Memes? I chose the first
cultural work because it really made me think of how I would even start to imagine how to finish
that sentence "imagine if." For the second cultural work I chose this because it kind of asks a
question for a part of my life that I can answer.
I think that the cultural work "Why Are We So Obsessed with Memes? reflects on our
culture because it has affected all of us in some way. For example, popular culture and our
emotions. When some of the population watches a meme, they experience different types of
emotions. Such as, happiness, sadness, fear, and joy. Another reason why I think it reflects
culture because it encourages participation and shareability
For "How would You Finish the Sentence "Imagine if I think this relates to culture
because in the video it says "Our scientific proof and our works of art. We do not just live in the
world as we find it, we create civilizations, theories, technologies, and we reach beyond the
planet." For this question it is going to be a little easier to answer, because the line is basically
the answer, but let me explain. For culture today, we believe in science because science has been
here for billions of years, and cultures believe and go along with science because that is what we
think is right since it has been here for so long. For art has also been here for a very long time.
but art is more for the understanding one culture from the next. A painting, a song, a meme helps
us understand the meaning behind that culture.
How does a painting, song, or meme specify which culture it comes from? When doing
research on this question I plan to use keywords like Why does this painting represent this
culture (have not picked out a specific painting.), how does this song reflect on this culture (have
not picked out a song yet.), or how does this meme specify which culture it comes from. I will
also research how these three things make the cultures feel and how it makes others who are not
in that specific culture feel.
