7-1 Discussion Literary Expression
Literary works are very different from visual works of art. The way you interoperate a
certain art is a different story. Some people may find it easier to read and break down a story or
poem and gain insight on certain topics or life related situations. Others might rather stare at a
painting and have it speak directly to their soul and give a sense of emotion. Literary art can offer
a deeper meaning of life and leave an audience with a purpose or give the audience a chance to
learn something. With literary works of art you can always refer back to a page or verse and
really break down the words to find the purpose or theme. Visual arts can offer a sense of ease or
bring up any emotion. Visual arts can sometimes be unclear and confusing to some, like me.
However, I am a fan of both literary and visual arts, and sometimes these arts can go hand and
hand. I prefer literary works of art because the meanings are within the words; you just have to
search for them.
Example: I forgot to add the examples. With visual arts, a lot of the time you only get to
see what the artist wants you to see. But with literary arts you get to be creative and create the
characters, and settings in your head (mental picture) with what the author provides. How you
perceive either form of art is up to you, but each artist gives you a guideline to get to the
understanding that they had in mind when creating their work of art.

I too am a regular reader. I always have been since I was young. I love how you described
literary works of arts. I agree that literary works achieve more than visual works of art. Everyone is different and interoperates certain arts differently. However, I completely agree with you. And I admire how much you appreciate all types of art. Great post.

I agree with you, everyone views everything differently. I like the examples you use to make
your point on the differences in the forms of arts. Poe is one of my favorites. Sometimes it is
difficult to find the themes in visual arts compared to literary arts. Do you have a preference
when it comes to analyzing works of arts?
