6-1 Discussion: The Middle Ages Beowulf
I decided to write about something that has always held my interest, literature. For this discussion I chose to look deeper into the story Beowulf. Beowulf is an epic poem written in the seventh century. There is adventure, vengeance, warriors, violence, monsters, bravery, and even some gore. The poem would be performed for an audience, probably for a higher up audience like a court. Poets could sing or read their poems however they wanted to give the story more
excitement, and to make it more of a performance.
There are many versions of the poem Beowulf, and I think that the story Beowulf does
still speak to us today. In 2007 the movie Beowulf came out and was quite popular and I enjoyed the movie, although the movie is different from the original epic poem, it still has the same theme of monsters, adventure, and bravery.
I actually did not originally know that this story dated back to medieval times. When I saw the movie back in 2007 I thought it was just another movie. This module and researching about the story Beowulf has taught me more about the literature. There are a lot of theories about the original poem, one is that there is more than one author, and others think that it just is symbolic of all the changes in the religion. In the poem there is a lot of folklore, Christianity and Paganism elements.

I love learning about the Cathedrals! I also found them fascinating. A few discussions
back I wrote about the Notre Dame Cathedral. The Speyer Cathedral is also very beautiful, and it Iooks like a castle. Great post and pictures!

This is an interesting pick! It is very colorful, and a little unusual. Is that a blue horse? I like how you described it as a scene, because it does show a story.I like how the three men are
