Illustrate how our Rosen College (1) is dealing with and (2) can improve with the intangibility, inseparability, variability, and perishability of the service it provides. Give specific examples (Maximum 500 words). Intangibility: offering campus tours, word of mouth, very descriptive website, and reputation. With intangibility UCF has to really get the future student out there and show them there product and what they can get out of it because there's no tangible product. I feel UCF can improve by offering a virtual tour of the campus that outlines all the campus has to offer. I also feel that Rosen should advertise more about how they are a top hospitality program. Inseparability: Rosen deals with this by the rich curriculum that they offer. Each course you take has a unique curriculum that goes with it that enables you to learn the concepts that are being outlined. I don't feel like UCF needs to do any improvement in relation to this category. Variability: Rosen competes with other hospitality programs worldwide, but Rosen deals with this by making themselves the best and standout by having qualified instructors that teach relevant and up to date materials and by providing such a great service to make them the number two hospitality program in the world. I don't feel like UCF needs to do any improvement in relation to this category. Perishability: Rosen deals with this issue by requiring a certain number of students to be enrolled in the class before the semester starts or the class is cancelled. That saves the University from having an instructor teach an entire class to one student. Furthermore, they also allow students to be on a waitlist so in case students drop the class, another student can pick it up and the seat is not empty. One way they can improve upon this can be by offering up virtual seats. So instead of putting people on a waitlist, they should be put on a virtual list and have a live feed to the classroom so the student can view. With that they can also require the student to be on Rosen's WIFI to ensure that the student is physically there for attendance purposes and if a student drops the class one of the virtual students can move in class.
