Throughout the last eight weeks I have gained new insight into the realm of marketing. This newfound knowledge has led me to view brand messaging with a fresh outlook. I have grown into the marketer's hat and analyzed companies to understand the reasoning for their promotion and compare strategies with their competitors.
Reviewing and tracking new businesses growth achieved by means of their marketing technique highlighted an area of opportunity for a local Thai restaurant in my neighborhood. Lucky Elephant is a quaint Thai restaurant that offers delectable cuisine in large portions. The restaurant made its way on the scene last summer and has attracted all the locals in the area. Having a website with no opportunity to make a reservation and no established online presence to view daily specials, consumers often experience longer wait times as seating is based on first come, first served approach.
Lucky Elephant has a golden leverage as there is an established and potential consumer base that would benefit from being able to engage with the restaurant online. The owners of Lucky Elephant must revisit the drawing board and formulate a SWOT analysis to plainly identify their internal and external market factors. One clear strength is the restaurant's reputation for serving delicious food that neighbors rave about to visitors in our town.
The owners should create profiles on popular social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram utilizing both channels to promote menu items and share customer feedback. Wednesdays at Lucky Elephant is known for its special sale on bubble tea, if this were to be shared on Facebook it would generate more attention to having consumers liking and sharing the post for others to see. If the restaurant were to clearly identify demographics of the target audience that visit the location, this would help to endorse menu items specifically created to cater to that audience. This could potentially help with seating limitations as the restaurant can then accommodate based off the consistent volume of traffic per segment.
Lucky Elephant has potential to expand and further its target reach; with a few strategic steps such as a SWOT analysis to define its business model and segmenting the different target markets, the restaurant can launch its online presence and receive support from its existing fan base.
