Managing Quality in Affordable Housing

Currently I work in the a ordable housing eld in the Housing Choice Voucher Program, aka, Sec on 8 and we are 1 of the 3 largest in the State. Our agency has been recognized by HUD as a top performing agency for the past 14 years and with this status, we were able to apply and be granted the status as a Moving To Work (MTW) agency which allows us to deviate from the standard HUD standard regula ons We are able to create special programs, partnership with various organiza on and allow us to be crea ve with how we run our program, all with HUD approval of course. With this being said, we are therst of many things in our state and other agency look to us for their benchmarking, so we have to benchmark ourselves by reviewing other MTW agencies outside of the State. By looking at other States, it allowed out con nuous improvement commi ee to streamline many of our process, come up with KPIs in our day-today func ons and benchmarks that each department must meet monthly. One area where it is challenging and need improvement is when doing comparison with other housing agencies, make sure that they are similar in size, a smaller agency may not have the volume that we, as a Iarger agency may have and the data used may not be re ect a true account. Another area that I would look at is non-MTW agencies that are similar in size, structure, and demographics for be er comparisons.
