Hello all, I found this weeks discussion assignment quite interesting. While researching companies that have experienced DOS attacks this year I came across an article about Google Cloud mitigating the largest ddos attack to date. In the article it stated, "this new series of DDoS attacks reached a peak of 398 million requests per second (rps)". (Kiner & April, 2023) This is the largest attack that Google Cloud has faced to date. The article mentioned that the threat actors relied on a novel HTTP/2 "Rapid Reset" technique to attempt this attack. They also mentioned what they are going to do going forward to mitigate this type of attack. The one thing I wish they would have included in the article was how they identified the attack and were there any signs leading up to the attack that they could have used to prevent it from happening in the first place. Kiner, E., & April, T. (2023, October 10). Google Cloud mitigated largest DDoS attack, peaking above 398 million rps.
