Operations and Project Management Capstone - Laundry Detergent Manufacturing

2-2 Milestone One: Product/Service Launch Strategy and Planning Brief Kayla C. Methodology and Planning. Exhibit A: Project Schedule Gantt Chart.. .6 .10 Rationale The future of Indian laundry is projected to take leaps in growth as technology has provided villages opportunity to use computer-controlled wet machines, special dryers and detergents and non-toxic contamination (Clean India Journal-Editor, 2018). I have selected to place focus on generating a laundry detergent that can be manufactured by Husk Power Systems (HPS), utilizing the rice husk ash from the burning of rice husk. In reading, Sinha mentions the need to grow organically and increase utilization rates to more than 75%, while also pointing out a better quality of life that extends beyond electricity. With the upcoming increase of wet washing in Indian communities, there will be an increase of appliances being purchased, which will place a demand on detergent that is needed to wash garments. Using the waste from the burnt rice husk, RHA, as a main ingredient for detergent, HPS can serve as the manufacturer and gain a second source of revenue throughout the country. Asian Journal of Applied Science and Technology notes, the annual rice husk produce in India amounts is generally 120 million tons, creating 20 million of rick husk ash (Hemalatha et al., 2018). Problem or Opportunity While problems are expected to arise during the programming phase, we will look at developing a laundry detergent as an opportunity to not only grow HPS as an organization but increase the quality of life for the consumers in India. Husk Power Systems will be able to provide eco-friendly power, collaborate with big name appliance companies (i.e., General Electric Company), and manufacture an eco-friendly detergent that will be used with the appliances being powered by HPS power generators. It ultimately will create a steady flow of financial increase for HPS, which can create more for the rural villages in India. Throughout the
