Character Sketch of Mark

Fletscher1 Theodore Fletscher Instructor Lynn McGill ENG-329 09 September 2023 Character Sketch My main character's name is Mark. My story takes place in 1985, and at this time Mark is in his early twenties, he is 5'10" and about 190 pounds, physically fit, of North West European decent, with thinning brown hair and actual green eyes. Mark in a former Marine who was involved in the Invasion of Granada in 1983 as a Sergeant leading a reconnaissance team. While in Grenada Mark saw action, but he and his team make it home physically in one piece. Mark did his 6-year tour and came back home to help his mother Kate who lives just west of Abilene Texas. Mark works a carpenter, oil field laborer, horse trainer, and handgun weapons instructor depending which of this is hiring. Mark is close to his mother, is a bit of a loner, and has no father to be mentioned. His time with the Marines and Grenada did have a positive and negative effect. The Marines taught him to be true, fair, physically fast and strong, never seek revenge, but only justice. Negatively, Mark has a bit of PTSD, meaning he saw some shit in Grenada that has an effect on his sleep and moods. Mark has buried most of these war memories and seems calm and normal. His personality is one of kindness and calmness. Mark will help all he can in need. He hates conflict, but if pushed Mark can strike as fast and deadly as a rattle snake. Character sketch question one, what kind of vehicle does Mark drive? He drives a 1983 Chevy Blazer, that is Marine red with the white stripe down the middle of the chassis. Question two, what books does Mark read. In 1985 Mark is reading The Hunt for Red October by Tom Fletscher2 Clancy, with several Clive Cussler and Louis L'amour books on his shelves. Mark loves westerns and military stories. Question three, who are Mark's friends. Most of his Marine buddies are still serving and stationed all over the world. His best friend from High School is in Arkansas, and his High School sweet heart married a sailor a few years back. Mark is in a friendship transition, and really only talks to his mother at the moment. Question four, as a weapons instructor what is Mark's favorite gun. While in the Marines they still issued the Colt 1911 .45 semi-auto. Before his service he favored a Ruger .357/.38 Special revolver. With the current open carry laws in Texas, Mark holsters the Colt 1911 for his daily life. One personality attribute that Mark will use in my story is that of Justice. Mark will not seek revenge nor vengeance, but will look for fairness. Finding Justice in a violet world can look like weakness by the human predators. In being fair and helpful Mark does not start conflicts. If he is wronged, he will first look to the law to catch, convict and punish those
