Hello, After reading: Ethics in Experimental Research" and watching the video on the "Belmont Report", there is no time where you can conduct research unethically. In my opinion if the research study appears to be unethical then we should not be conducting the research. According to the Belmont report, we must follow the requirements and make sure that all patients are giving their "informed consent" when entering a research study. The research should have possible benefits and less harm to the subjects. The research should be fair and equitable in selection and treatment of the subjects. As far as "how do we balance the greater food of the community with he rights of and individual?" when it comes to Ethical research, is that the risks and benefits to the participants and the benefits to the community are weighted against each other and there may need to be an independent outside review of the ethics of the experiment.
