Heather Prosser Journal Module one The two articles I chose are Covid data tracker for the United States (https://covid.cdc.gov/covid- data-tracker/#datatracker-home) which allow the tracking of trends and other indicators of the disease, and Health Disparities Provisional Death Counts for Covid-19 (https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/health_disparities.htm) which show health disparities in the United States of different races and of Hispanic origins. Within the articles, I learned that non-Hispanic whites unadjusted for age accounted for 66.2% of deaths followed by 15.10% of deaths in Hispanics, and the lowest rated death by Covid at .20% being Non-Hispanic Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander. I also learned that within the past week, there has been a downward trend in COVID-19 emergency department visits by 19%, totaling 32,861 COVID-19 hospital admissions this past week. I also learned that in New York, region 2, there has been a 1% decrease in positive tests, which genuinely surprised me since our hospitals are overflowing again. When it comes to the final project, these articles will help draw connections between health disparities within specific populations and social and behavioral determinants as well as in determining patterns and trends of disease causation in specific populations by analyzing health data. Relatable vocabulary includes disparities, mortality rate, and population.
Using the articles I listed, they will help me by providing accurate and current trends, patterns, and information on the novel coronavirus.
