Impact of Socioeconomic Factors on Health and Access to Healthcare

Economic Stability: In terms of economic stability my health has a positive impact because of it. I have access to health food, vitamins, and minerals. I also have the means necessary to afford non-traditional health care such as acupuncture, massage, and acupressure. Education access and quality: The area I live in I am .4 miles from the high school, elementary school, and middle school. All of which have very high ratings. The lowest being a 7/10. I also have access to several colleges, and community colleges. Health care access and quality: I have direct access to two different high quality health networks as well as several private practices. I personally have great healthcare benefits which allows me to have a low deductible plan making it affordable for me and my family if we need to get medical care. Neighborhood and built environment: The neighborhood I live in is next to two cement plants which creates a lot of cement dust. We are also near an active quarry where they are blasting twice a week. There has been discussion and research done surrounding the cement dust that is in constant circulation in our town. Unfortunately, there is little we can do about it unless we move. I personally have not felt the effects of it but I'm sure those with pulmonary conditions such as COPD or asthma may feel these effects from the air quality. Our neighborhood also has access to a lot of walking trails, parks, and gyms. The terrain is also for the most part flat allowing for people in the community to walk for exercise as well. There are also several grocers in the area that all offer organic food. There are also several local farms that offer local dairy and meats. In addition to that we have a farms market every Saturday in the circle. Social and Community context: The area I live in is a mix of those who strongly believe in western medicine, those who have mixed beliefs and follow some holistic and natural remedies. and western medicine, and those who strictly follow holistic and natural remedies. Having such a mix allows anyone to be able to find a community of people with the same beliefs as them. I think that the five key domains are positively contributing to my health. Having access to all of the above-mentioned things makes it easier for one to remain healthy. I think those who are not in an area with good health care, or healthy food, or having access to health insurance these domains could negatively impact their health.
