Healthcare Marketing Strategies and Stakeholder Engagement

1. How do healthcare marketers select and communicate to their target market? Healthcare marketers select and communicate with their target market by first deciding who can and will benefit from the product and services being offered, whether that's the elderly, teenagers, adults, etc "Healthcare marketers select and communicate to their target markets by reviewing the wants and needs of consumers" (Cellucci et al., 2014). Once a marketer decides who their target audience is and separates them into groups or segments based on different characteristics also known as market segmentation, then they must choose a marketing method or strategy that will reach their target audience " Internet marketing will surely reach younger consumers, teenagers, and a large majority of your patients who may be looking for a new physician. But it won't get to about half of Baby Boomers, who don't own a laptop or smartphone, or a large majority of seniors (How to reach your target audience with Healthcare Marketing, n.d.). 2. How do healthcare marketers consider internal stakeholders (employees, doctors, administration, etc.) in their marketing efforts? Healthcare marketers consider internal stakeholders by including them or a representation of them in their marketing efforts as well as including them in the marketing discussion process. Many doctors especially are not only stakeholders of a medical facility but also shareholders so when choosing a marketing strategy, they are part of the boardroom discussion. Having them part of the boardroom discussion and marketing allows them to give real feedback from a medical stand point and add medical expertise to the marketing "This works especially in favor of doctors who can articulate their service and experiences, where patients may need a referral for" (Cellucci et al., 2014). 3. How do healthcare marketers consider external stakeholders (legislators, public health officials, etc.) in their marketing efforts? External stakeholders such as legislators and public health officials are considered in marketing efforts by ensuring they are following all laws and regulations set up by the government. It is important for medical facilities to ensure they follow and incorporate government regulations to ensure they do not face any violations and fines especially if they are financially backed by the government 4. How will you consider internal and external stakeholders in your marketing and communication plan? I will consider both internal and external stakeholders in my marketing plan by insuring I have members of both my internal and external stakeholders part of the marketing discussion and allow them to have a say in whatever marketing strategy we choose, allow them to ask questions or voice concerns they might have.
