1-3 Journal: Locating Resources
1. Why did you choose those two articles?
I choose two articles from the CDC relating to salmonella. The first article is
titled "Salmonella". I chose this article because it breaks down what
salmonella is and how you could catch it. It also tells you the symptoms of
having salmonella. It also shows you the reports of people who have had
salmonella. The second article I chose is "Outbreaks of Salmonella Infections
Linked to Backyard Poultry". I chose this article because some people do
raise chicken and ducks but don't realize the severity/danger of catching
salmonella although they need to know the chances of them catching it, dying
from it, or passing it on.
2. What elements (ideas, terms, vocabulary, connections, etc.) related to the final project
did you find in the articles?
Both of these articles are direct links to the final project. One article shows
you real numbers and cases of Salmonella outbreaks. The other article
explains the symptoms of Salmonella, how you can get it, what foods may
cause outbreaks.
3. How might these resources be useful when completing the final project?
These resources will be very useful for completing the final project because
there's information in both of the articles that is very useful and is connected
to the topic of the final project. Both of the articles present reports and
percentages that can back up facts about salmonella.
4. What did you learn about the disease?
I learned about this disease from my parents and the news when I was much
younger and there was a nationwide salmonella outbreak. And there was a
certain food we couldn't eat because it had salmonella. When I was in high
school I was enrolled in a Health Science class and the teacher taught briefly
on the topic of Salmonella. But until looking and reading the articles today, I
never knew that you could die from getting salmone
