1. Provide a brief description of SARS, supporting your description with sources from the case.
Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, also known as SARS, is a viral respiratory illness. This virus belongs to family of viruses called coronavirus. SARS is spread through airborne droplets
sneezing or coughing and then enters the susceptible person through their mouth, nose or eyes. Symptoms include high fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. Most cases of SARS patients were previously healthy adults ages 25-70. (Epiville Chamber of Commerce: SARS, n.d.ffi.

2. Describe the patterns that can be identified in the population impacted by the SARS outbreak, citing the case to support your response.
SARS was identified in February of 2003 in Asia. A large amount of cases centered in the Amoy Garden Apartment Complex in Hong Kong and the 35 story building was placed on a 10-day isolation order. 3. Draw conclusions about the mode of transmission of the disease based on your analysis of the disease and population.
Due to the amount of people that were living in such close quarters of the Amoy Garden Apartment complex this virus had the ability to create a full outbreak situation in Hong Kong. Ventilation systems within the complex aided in spreading the airborne virus from apartment to apartment and the dense population in Hong Kong allowed it to spread further.
