Principles of Epidemiology

Nathaniel Agyei 29/02/2020 Reflection The knowledge, skills and abilities I have acquired in this course will help me in the field of epidemiology. In the sense that, through this course I have been enlightened more on the primary, secondary and tertiary way of preventing a disease. Through this course, I have learnt that a disease can only and possibly be eliminated or eradicated when the entire community get involved. And how can they get involved if they have no knowledge about the disease at hand or about how diseases come about, how they spread from person to person and from place to place The community need to be informed and educated so that they can participate in the process and in such way, the possibility of eradicating a disease become possible. The most interesting assignment was the final project submission because the time I found out that I need to submit the whole project was unfavorable to me and it happen in a busy week so I had to adjust my time and other stuff so I can put things together in order to be able to focus on the final project. It was a challenge for me, but I was able to overcome it at the due time. With what I have learnt from this course so far, I will personally practice it, like in the case of preventing a disease primarily. Personal hygiene and educating myself and others when there is an outbreak of a disease, how to prevent oneself from getting the disease and the best way to reduce the spread of the disease.
