The topic I chose for my final project is obesity. I chose obesity because this a big issue
in this country right now. It is very important to discuss this issue with the public because obesity
is one of the top diseases that take people's lives now. In the public eye, this may not be an
important issue but it is because obesity is on the rise. Portion sizes are much bigger, more and
more people would rather sit infront of a computer screen than go out and enough the day and
exercise and also processed and fast food takes up of most of our diets. This is a topic and is near
and dear to me because I have an undergrad in nutrition and I believe that this is an awful issue
in this country today and it is important that the public is aware.
Obesity does not happen overnight and that is why it is important to teach the importance
of making good food choices because teaching children how to eat healthy and keep their bodies
well-nourished early is the way to go. It is very easy to want to choose the more convenient
option, which is premade and fast foods but this is a large issue in our country that needs to be
addressed. This topic is very important also because some people do not have the knowledge that
they need to be healthy and make good food choices, they may also feel that they do not have the
money.
Obesity leads to many other health disorders, like diabetes, heart disease, depression and
others that can impact your life in so many additional ways. Knowing how to manage what you
eat can help avoid these other conditions, obesity is one disease that is detrimental to your health
but these other diseases in conjunction, can be fatal. Weight can be a very tough topic for most
but finding ways to bring it to the public in a way that is helpful and not offensive is the key to
this issue.
