Crisy Klaus 1-1 Journal: The 12 Core Functions HSE: 350 Substance Use Southern New Hampshire University January 11, 2024 When it comes to my readiness of being a substance abuse counselor, if feel as though I am ready. Even though I still have things that I need to learn with regards to being able to best help those in recovery or wanting to being the recovery process. I also feel as though you are always learning when it comes to any matters especially when it comes to counseling others. I have experience when it comes to working with those in the recovery process. Being that I have worked in a rehab facility before I am familiar with the 12 core functions of a substance abuse counselor. What I am hoping to take away from this course is a better understanding of how to come up with proper treatment planning as well as assessing those in the various stages of the process from beginning of a treatment to the end of the treatment process. Even though I feel I have strengths when with comes to some of the core functions, I know there are still areas in which I need to have a better understanding of as well. I know that I have some strengths since I have experience within the field which can aid in my helping others when the time comes. I also have some limitations especially at this point as I don't have a full understanding of each of the processes that may be required.
