8-2 Case Study: Career Planning Andre Ross Southern New Hampshire University MGT-200-H7266 Leadership and Team Building 24EW4. Mr. Loflin April 23, 2024
Robert is one of the supervisors who for a prominent bottling company and has consistently produced productivity at a rate of 10% since gaining supervisor title. Impressively Robert has 100 accident-free days under his belt which gains respect from his team and shows he is ensuring safety first during the process. Sadly, Robert was a very timid person who didn't know when to voice certain things which left his colleagues unnoticed of how great of a supervisor possibly hindering future advancements. Eager to advance withing the company Robert started that with becoming supervisor and plans to end at being director of the facility. Only thing that is hindering his process to success is his supervisors have yet to recognize his accolades and the inability to be outgoing speaking more making his presence known to stand out. This will help him to be seen as worthy and showing that he is a great fit for the promotion instead of not being seen as a fit. To pave his way for the promotion Robert should self-analysis acknowledging all things in his way that keep him from it and lock in creating adjustments to seize the opportunities of development to gain his targeted goal. Robert must add to traits, and I feel he can do that best by enhancing his relationship management and self-reflection which will help compartmentalize where change is needed. Robert should talk to his supervisors more helping him to become more comfortable and this would all his to display his accolades like how he has been able to keep 10% increase steady in production along with no injuries over 100 days. He could also take online courses teaching him how to better utilize his communicating skills and this would help him to gain confidence to be making his presence known by speaking around the other supervisors. Being able to express yourself around your colleagues is vital you don't ever want to look like the push over you want to have their respect backing your successes within the company too. Also being a supervisor the
team you're in charge of must see you lead by example so in order to inspire them you'd want to be able to communicate well with everyone showing them the way it supposed to be done. Robert must see the vision of where he wants to be when it comes to advancing in his career this will help him develop self-reflection to understand how much work needs to be done to get to that point of success. I don't think he should ever compare accolades to others because any accomplishments are achieved should be celebrated, talked about, and shown so I feel he should even without being noticed be happy expressing it in meeting. When completing those online courses to help develop better communications adding additional traits to the relationship management will benefit Robert
