Life is already hard and learning how to deal with emotions is even harder. However, just like life, to succeed one needs to learn and develop skills that will help navigate those emotions. In this case, Jenny most likely suffers from social anxiety and low emotional intelligence. This could lead to issues with relationship management, self-management and self-awareness issues which could be improved upon. With the help of her management team and some effort, Jenny will be able to change how she is perceived by her colleagues and adjust her attitude toward life. To help improve Jenny's emotional intelligence or EQ, her self-awareness needs to be improved. Understanding how the world around her makes her feel certain emotions will better help understand why she feels the way she does. By pinpointing the triggers to her emotions, she would be able to find solutions or work arounds to circumvent her poor self- management, by doing so she would reduce the amount of stress that could be affecting her decision making (Mayo Clinic, 2021). If Jenny can master her emotions, she will be able to be a more effective communicator with not only her peers but the world around her. To manage negative emotions at work, the priority would be attempting to find the reason for those negative emotions. For Jenny, she is good at her job but does not show any consideration for those around her. Management should speak with Jenny to understand her actions as she may not know she is doing it or offending anyone. Communicate with her how her actions are being viewed by her peers and find a way to solve the issue. Once the reason is found, management can come up with ways to help alleviate them like training in proper communication or how to better understand body language. By building better interpersonal relationships at work can help improve activity in the workplace. Jenny is not comfortable in settings where she does not know people very well but
has no issue with communicating since she went to find Monica to talk with. To promote better relationships management should create ways to have more interactive ways of having the team communicate over things other than work. Being able to find a common ground would help Jenny better connect with her peers and allow them to better understand what Jenny is feeling as well. This would allow for the creation of a more cohesive team and reduce the amount of stress that is felt by the team. Jenny should also try to better understand her team as well because she may just have some misconceptions and would be able to correct them once she gets to know them better. The best way to manage challenging employees is to deal with issues that come up in a timely manner. If the problem festers long enough it can create a more hostile
