The case only covers the surface of how the changing social media landscape is introducing challenges for managing employees. What additional incidents have you observed? What other challenges face organizations dealing with online interactions among employees, or employees and third parties? Some of the incidents that I have personally observed online always seem to be on Twitter. I feel like Twitter can get pretty low, which is why I am not in that social media community. I remember seeing some things on Instagram and on my yahoo news tab. It was in 2021, in season 2 of the Mandalorian, the character Cara Dune came in. She was a badass character. She was played by Gina Carano. This actress caused so much social media mayhem for herself that she got fired from LucasFilm and was dropped from her talent agency. Her posts were offensive and had things from Nazi Germany, politics, the Holocaust, Jeffery Epstein, mask-wearing, and transgender people. Why would someone who is in a position where you have millions of people watching and following you commit literally social media suicide? She's not the only person who has posted something on social media to offend a group of people. Actors and Actresses have a talent agency and publicists for a reason because they tell you what to do and what not to do for your image's sake. Another challenge that I think employers are dealing with is employees constantly being on their phone during working hours. It's a big problem and an even bigger distraction to the productivity of the company. Depending on their job, it could be a security issue, the employee can unknowingly leak sensitive information to the public or to hackers. 2. How open are you online? Why do you take this approach? I personally am not open to everyone online. I mainly use Instagram and I have Facebook, but I no longer really use it anymore. I have privacy settings up where people cannot see my full profile, certain information, who my friends are, or posts. I chose to do this for a number of reasons. One, sometimes random people like to follow and post spam under my posts. I don't feel like my "space" is the place to post your quick cash gimmicks. Two, if people request to be friends with me, it gives me the chance to view that before hitting accept. Maybe I don't what them on my page, or don't know who they are. Three, I have a strict rule about having certain co- workers and family on my fiends list. Specifically, my boss, the managing DVM, or people that I personally don't vibe with. I also don't have my parents, or any aunts and uncles allowed to follow me. I will decline their request. I take this approach because I want to be able to be myself.
