Valerie Lopez Mary Sanders MGT 200 December 17, 2023 8-1 Activity: Emotional Intelligence Test Take the Emotional Intelligence Test & Reflect on the Results Taking the Emotional Intelligence Test gave me the understanding I needed of my current emotional intelligence skills. I got my results as being in the average range. Do I agree with the results? Yes, I do agree with the results because I have the drive, the stress management skills, as well as how I control emotions. I have learned to give myself some grace and see that I am doing okay as a person as well as someone in a workplace. Sometimes I can get overwhelmed and need a break or feel that I am being too much and too emotional, this test confirmed I am not and that I am average. My weakness will be self-regard. My self-regard weakness is me needing approval. I agree I do need approval from work, relationships, and family. As my husband has told me, I love to "People Please" even if it is not being a "yes" person but being one that wants everyone happy. Keeping the peace is my goal versus speaking my mind and being honest no matter how hard the truth is. Write SMART Goals & Describe Your Strategies For my SMART Goal I will be focusing more on stress management. Yes, I should be doing more of a "People Pleasing" goal, but I truly feel that managing stress is more of my main

Attainable: Use resources like books, online articles, and videos to learn new stress management techniques. Realistic: Start with 15 minutes a day and gradually increase the time as I get more comfortable with the techniques. Time-bound: Achieve a noticeable improvement in stress management within 3 months. My second SMART Goal is .... You guessed it! People Pleasing. Here is my second SMART Goal: Specific: Improve my need for approval. Measurable: Use resources such as books, online articles, and videos to learn how to not to be a "yes person as much as I am". Realistic: Start with saying no to one task a day that I would usually say yes, and overload myself too. Time-bound: Achieve a noticeable improvement in not "people pleasing" within 3 months. For my SMART Goals, I will introduce and include practicing mindfulness, and using the Calm App that I paid a yearly subscription for. I practice mindfulness by paying more attention, especially during work or coming home from getting my son and work. Just living in the moment instead of worrying about what I have to do tomorrow or how I should have finished a project earlier in the day. Caring for myself as in the way I care for a close friend. I make sure everyone has everything they need and is happy within themselves, I need
