Iast few years, and nothing seems to be off limits. While boycotting has always been a thing, I think "cancelling" takes it to the next level and the severity of the trend is enabled by social media. If something is deemed offensive or socially unacceptable, you can bet there will be a group trying to get the person, company, or thing to bend to their standards. Those that do not comply face being "cancelled".
Therefore, those that are at the helm of businesses need to be cognizant of consumers values and be sure that the companies' values are in alignment. Not doing so, can be detrimental to a business or brand, as they face losing customers, decrease in revenue, bad publicity, etc. Furthermore, those in positions of leadership, when issues arise, face additional scrutiny and sometimes even employment termination. While some companies can recover from such backlash, in most instances the
good idea to have the right leaders in place and a well thought out business plan from the beginning to avoid any unnecessary negativity
