1. Describe the results of this experiment. The study resulted in the wheat plants growing taller than the rye plants in the 8-week period. In this experiment data was collected and compared on the growth in centimeters on a weekly basis of 3 wheat plants and 3 rye plants. This data was then graphed by hand drawing for the rye plants and the wheat plants. I then entered the data collected into excel and used scatter plots and created a trendline on each plot. The independent variable in this data is the time. The dependent variable was the height of the plants in centimeters. On the trendline I created, the equation used to predict future height and to find a trend for rate of which the plant grew is y=1.2381x + 0.9286 for wheat plant 1. 1.2381 is the slope of the line. This is how far from the line on the y axis rises over the x which is a specific distance. The y intercept is 0.9286. This equation will help you to see future heights of a plant at a specific time. Knowing the slope helps to get the average amount that the plant grew weekly in

is the slope for the equation above as well. This equation is set up for the plant being 0.9286 cm tall at week 0. These plants are all grown from seed so the y intercept should have been 0 because the plants were
ground. I then need to reset my y intercept to 0 so the corrected equation is y = 1.402x + 0 for trendline wheat plant 1. Wheat plant 2 has a trendline equation of y = 1.3431x. Wheat plant 3 has a trendline equation of y = 0.9853x.
