Scaffolding is demonstrated in Roy's "amazing feedback Ioops" by his son's development of the word water. At first his
and with help from caregivers, Roy's son can turn the utterance gaga into the actual word water. This example also demonstrates the zone of proximal development. When trying to learn words, a child will use utterances as close to the word as they can develop. Once this pattern is noticed by caregivers, they can repeat words at their simplest form and the child is eventually able to form the word from the utterance.
A time I had to learn a new schema was when I had to learn how to walk with my prosthesis. 8 years ago, I was involved in a bad motorcycle accident that eventually left me with a below knee amputation on my right Teg. My physical therapist working with me and showing me the mechanics of how to walk is an example of scaffoldina. When I first started to walk I needed more help from her and other assistive devices. Scaffolding and proximal development can relate to emotional intelligence. We can use the knowledge of other's emotions to make a better environment for learning for that individual.
