My children were raised using social media, but not me. I've always had a good outlook
on websites like Facebook and YouTube. To reconnect with my family and old acquaintances, I
was eager. I didn't consider how negatively it may affect my family until it was too late. When
she was a teenager, my daughter began emailing inappropriate pictures of herself to someone
She was caught and reported to me by her brother. Because I took her phone away, there was a
lot of commotion, and I was really upset. Finding out what my child was doing increased my
awareness of what kids might be doing on these social media platforms. I became more involved
and began monitoring all my children's social media accounts. I believe that some parents are
unaware that social media can be a distraction from your responsibilities, especially when other
things are going on in your life. Parents must understand that by granting their children access to
social media, they must constantly monitor what they do. Whenever you can, schedule time with
your family for other activities and limit your internet usage so that you can spend more time
bonding with them. My children responded positively to our time together after I found fun
activities for them to do. It gave us more time to get to know each other because I created a no-
judgment zone where they could talk about anything without fear of getting in trouble. We grew
closer as we spent more time together each week.
There is evidence indicating both the detrimental impacts of technology and its excessive
use, even though some forms of technology may have improved the world. Social media and
mobile devices can cause depression, encourage cyberbullying, and give predators access to your
kids. Children and teenagers who are still developing may be more negatively impacted by
excessive usage of technology. Social media and other technologies are meant to bring people
together, yet they can have the opposite effect. When examining the social world, sociologists
look for issues or interesting patterns and then set out to investigate them. From a symbolic
interactionist perspective, we can see, for example, that family definitions differ among families.
According to the symbolic interactionist perspective, people have reciprocal relationships with
both their natural and symbolic environments (Aksan, 2009). From facilitating leisure time to
increasing productivity, functionalism views technology as a contributor to societal stability.
There may be differing opinions on technology among families. Spending time together while
using technology can be a form of family bonding for some families because how interactive
