Gun control has been a controversial issue for many, both the public and political/governing bodies. There has been an unfortunate number of crimes such as mass shootings, homicides, etc. Which has kept gun control at the forefront. Gun owners across the states continuously voice their thoughts and opinions on gun control and how varying regulations are essentially infringing on their constitutional rights. It's not surprising to see the government intervening to mitigate or lessen the impact of gun violence given the history of the past years as well as the present. Combating violence with control from one perspective is an exceptional tactic. This could be in the form of background checks, "bump stocks" ban, assault weapons ban etc. As those who support gun control, one could ask does it work or how well does gun control fare in America
guns, etc. Those who oppose gun control see it as unconstitutional and a form of government infringement restricting their rights by limiting ammo capacity, or generally stripping them of their right to protect themselves. I can't say that I oppose gun control. However, I certainly agree that constitutional rights should not be infringed on.
With gun control being such a controversial issue there seems to be just as much support as it is for those who oppose it. There are a number of organizations on both sides of the spectrum. Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence is an organization that works to reduce gun violence in the US through advocacy, public education, and research. The Brady Campaign works to pass and enforce gun control legislation at the local, state, and federal level, such as universal background checks and bans on certain types of firearms. The organization also works to educate the public on the dangers of gun violence and the importance of responsible gun ownership (United Against Gun Violence 1974). Everytown for Gun Safety is an organization that works to end gun violence by advocating for common-sense gun laws and public safety measures. Everytown works to pass and enforce gun control legislation at the local, state, and federal level, such as laws requiring background checks on all gun purchases and laws allowing police to temporarily remove firearms from individuals who may be at risk of harming themselves or others. The organization also works to educate the public on the dangers of gun violence and the importance of responsible gun ownership (Everytown For Gun Safety 2013). Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence is an organization that works to reduce gun violence through legal action and advocacy. The Giffords Law Center works to pass and enforce gun control legislation at the local, state, and federal level, such as laws banning bump stocks and laws allowing for extreme risk protection orders. The organization also works to challenge laws that weaken gun control measures in court, and to advocate for gun control measures in the media (Giffords Law
